Completed delivery of the Homemade Explosives Course – Basic 2025

In accordance with the cooperation agreement between the NATO EOD COE and the Romanian Land Forces Command, the NATO EOD COE has successfully delivered two iterations of the Homemade Explosives Course – Basic (HMEC-B) at the Romanian Combat Support Training Center in Râmnicu Vâlcea.

The entire HMEC-B curriculum is focused on the initial recognition of homemade explosives and the various groups of these explosives. Additionally, trainees learn about the sensitivity and functionality of chemicals and precursors, as well as the appropriate measures to take when such agents are discovered.

Each iteration of the course lasts three working days and includes a field demonstration. The first iteration took place from September 16 to September 18, 2025, and the second from September 23 to September 25, 2025. A total of 34 participants from 10 NATO countries and 3 Interoperability Platform countries enrolled in the course. All trainees demonstrated their acquired skills and successfully met the course graduation criteria. The high quality of the training, praised by the graduates, is a testament to the dedication and excellent support provided by the Romanian Combat Support Training Center in Râmnicu Vâlcea.
