THE 12th EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE COMMUNITY CONFERENCE IN SLOVAKIA

 

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic and coordinated by ZVS holding, a.s., the 12th Slovak Explosive Ordnance (EO) Community Conference took place from 22 OCT to 23 OCT 2025, at Hotel Panorama in Trečianske Teplice, Slovakia. This conference attracted an international group of experts, bringing together 130 participants from military, industry, and research sectors.

The conference featured 11 speakers who presented on the following objectives:

1. Sharing new knowledge and experiences regarding modern types of munitions, rockets, drones, and military engineering assets currently used in operations, focusing on production quality and user experience.

2. Discussing the life cycle of explosive ordnance, including factors that can enhance its longevity and quality during storage.

3. Exploring new technological solutions and methods for mine clearance, with an emphasis on safety during clearance operations.

4. Addressing the specific roles of agencies involved in the handling of explosives and munitions.

5. Presenting a new approach to Explosive Ordnance Disposal.

6. Examining the offensive use of explosives, particularly in breaching operations.

Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Hugyar, PhD, Head of the Education and Training Department, accepted an invitation to represent the NATO Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Center of Excellence (COE). During his presentation, he introduced the mission, vision, and objectives of the NATO EOD COE. He also explained the general regulations that govern the network of NATO Centers of Excellence, highlighting their functions and benefits to NATO.
